Rawbots – Lead Programmer

January 2022 – Present

Developed a multiplayer physics based sandbox game from scratch with one other developer using Unreal Engine 5. The game is based around user created robots which are fully programmable entities that are composed of parts the user places.
Created an automated Steam release pipeline with development builds. The pipeline included editor builds for artists so they don’t have to compile the engine themselves.
Implemented fully procedural star systems and planets that included weather, randomised terrain + foliage, water and also correlated these features to produce coherent planets.
Other features I implemented include multiplayer, frontend and various game UI’s, tutorial system, saving/loading and a portal system for travelling between star systems.
Managed one developer and various artists throughout the development, coordinating work and assigning tasks, then subsequently reporting progress to the CEO.

d3t - Associate Programmer

June 2020 – December 2021

I spent one year working with Unreal Engine 4 on Hogwarts Legacy, primarily on next gen consoles, namely PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. I worked on optimising load times, integrating next gen specific features, fixing memory leaks, creating QA tools, and fixing various graphical bugs.
The last seven months I spent developing animation tools software for a studio’s custom game engine. This included rendering a fully interactive skeleton with editing tools, creating an animation blend graph UI with Delaunay triangulation and creating a serialiser for importing/exporting animation node graphs.
Communicated with clients frequently to understand their needs and develop to specification.

BossAlien – Summer Internship

July 2019 – September 2019

Spent the first half of the internship on the systems team working on core functionality for the game and writing an Unreal Engine plugin to speed up development of parts of the project.
On second half of the internship I was in the gameplay team where my time was split between fixing bugs and implementing new features in the game.
I worked closely with UI designers to produce mobile friendly user interfaces which scale properly across all the top iOS + Android devices.

Web Applications UK – Summer Internship

July 2018 – August 2018

Underwent two weeks of training in programming, databases and version control. In addition, I also completed a one-day professional communication course.
Completed a development project where we underwent the standard process of drafting up the system requirements, writing the specification and developing + testing the system.
Engaged with the community where we went to local community centres and taught young kids how to program robots.
